Fees $175 per 50mins (the Medicare rebate is $124.50 so you are out of pocket only $50.50 per individual session). You need to pay the full fee on the day and then take your receipt to Medicare to get your rebate. Health care card holders are offered bulk billing. Payment is on the day at the time of consultation and EFTPOS facilities are available. Cash and credit cards are welcome. No cheques please.
Medicare Rebates Medicare rebates are available. You can request that your GP refer you for psychological services under a Mental Health Care Plan for up to 10 individual sessions and/or 10 group sessions per calendar year.The rebate for clinical psychological services is $124.50 per session for individual therapy item 80010.To ensure that you can obtain the Medicare Rebate you MUST: (1) bring a referral letter, from your doctor, stating the number of sessions you can have , e.g. six to your first session. AND (2) bring a copy of your mental health treatment plan to your first session (PLEASE NOTE A COPY OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT PLAN IS NOT VALID AS A REFERRAL LETTER!)Please make sure that the referral letter states individual and/or group therapy if you intend on doing group therapy.If you do not obtain the correct paperwork you will not be able to get the Medicare rebate.It is recommended that you post,fax or email your paperwork to Catherine prior to your first appointmentPLEASE NOTE: Psychologists can provide private health fund rebates if you have extras cover. Check with your health fund, before commencing treatment, if you are unsure whether you are eligible for rebates for both individual and group therapy. These rebates significantly reduce the cost of your treatment. You cannot claim both your private health fund rebate and your Medicare rebate on the same session.

About Catherine Madigan, Melbourne Psychologist

Catherine Madigan, a clinical psychologist in private practice based in Hawthorn, began her career working in one of Melbourne’s community mental health clinics. She has substantial experience in the cognitive behavioural treatment of anxiety disorders: social phobia, panic, agoraphobia, generalised anxiety, hoarding, bdd, and depression and chronic pain. She has worked in several of Melbourne’s public and private hospitals including St. Vincents Hospital and Cabrini Hospital Melbourne. Catherine offers both individual and group cognitive behavioural therapy for social anxiety. See Group Therapy for details of forthcoming ‘Overcoming Shyness & Social Anxiety’. Individual cognitive behavioural therapy sessions are conducted in Hawthorn, Victoria but group cognitive behavioural therapy sessions are conducted in Hawthorn, Victoria. Catherine Madigan has experience working with Workcover & TAC clients. Catherine’s work with anxiety sufferers has been covered in Melbourne newspapers such as ‘The Age’, and ‘The Herald-Sun’, as well as ‘For Me’ magazine, ‘New Idea’, ‘Women’s Health & Fitness’ Magazine and ‘The Progress Press’. Catherine has also appeared on Channel 2′s ‘Dimensions’. Catherine has also been a contributor to ‘The Age’ newspapers now defunct Single’s File’ which was a column on relationship issues. Catherine has also, in the past done a talk-back psychology segment on Melbourne’s 3RRR and been a committee me ber of the Anxiety Disorders Association of Victoria (ADAVIC) . She aims to provide brief, effective, affordable meta-cognitive therapy and CBT in a friendly environment.
