OVERCOMING JOB BURNOUT
Job stress management is vital for many people if they are
to avoid career burnout.
If you are feeling stressed, demoralized, depressed and/or
anxious about your work it's possible you are experiencing
job burnout.
If you: feel miserable, are smoking more cigarettes and/or
using more alcohol or drugs in order to cope with your job,
dread going to work in the morning, have little or no motivation,
are sleeping poorly and taking days off work, it may be time
to seek help. Job stress can have an adverse impact on one's
health, leading to : ulcers, headaches, insomina, anxiety
and depression.
Clinical psychologist, Catherine Madigan, is offering a 3
session, job stress management program to aid those experiencing
job burnout. Job stress management can help you to feel more
relaxed and happier.
Workshop 1
Identifying the problem
This workshop aims to help you to identify your symptoms of
stress, clarify what is is about your job that causes you
stress, and to identify how you respond to stress
Workshop 2
Calming Down-Learning How To Respond More Effectively to Job
Stress
This workshop aims to provide various relaxation strategies,
some which you can use on the job.
The workshop covers stress management techniques such as progressive
muscle relaxation, isometric relaxation and slow breathing.
Lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise will also be covered.
Workshop 3
Feeling Happy Again & Knowing When To Quit.
This workshop aims to look at the role your self talk plays
in generating negative emotions such as: anxiety, depression
and anger. Participants will shown how to monitor their negative
thoughts, challenge them and how to generate more helpful
statements. This workshop also considers the possibility that
sometimes leaving a job is the best solution to job burnout.
This workshop looks at the fears people have about leaving
their current employment and how those fears can be tackled
so that the individual can move on.
